Environmental Suggestions

There are a number of simple things that can be tried to make the environment friendly to both the person with dementia and those around them. Leaving medications visible and linking medication times to routine activities (where appropriate for the type of medication) may reduce dependence on memory to take the medication.

For example, getting in the habit of taking tablets at mealtimes and/or at bedtime can be useful for some people.

There are a number of different services which can provide support with medication. Extended Aged Care in the Home (EACH) and Community Aged Care Packages (CACPS) may be able to provide support in the home with medication.
