Overview of DVD
This film is presented in chapters, exploring how independence, safety and leisure can be supported by changes to the environment or use of assistive technologies. It highlights some difficulties people with dementia may experience in and around their home and demonstrates a number of possible environmental and assistive technology strategies and solutions to support independence, self-esteem, safety and security and facilitate leisure activities. It highlights the need for a person centred and ethical approach to the use of technologies to support people living with dementia.
It is accompanied by a facilitator’s booklet, designed specifically for use with this DVD. It includes a summary of key points from the DVD and suggested questions for use in small group / training situations. It also includes a summary sheet which may be photocopied and distributed to those watching the program.
