Aims of the program
- Increase awareness and knowledge for family carers, dementia care staff and service providers of how assistive technology and simple environmental modifications can assist a person living with dementia to maximise their abilities and self-esteem, ensure safety and security and facilitate leisure and lifestyle activities;
- Introduce a person-centred, ethical and problem solving approach to the use of the environment and assistive technologies.
Some of the ideas are simple and inexpensive, whilst others require professional installation and are more costly. To avoid unnecessary expense, and to ensure the best solution for individual needs, professional assessment is advised.
